What is Humboldt.fyi?
A directory of Humboldt County businesses, put together and looked after by people who actually live here. Claimed listings are checked by a person before they go live, so hours, contact details, and descriptions stay current instead of being scraped once and left to go stale.
Is it free to use?
Yes. Browsing the directory, reading reviews, and asking Xander questions are all free. Businesses pay for their listings — visitors never do.
What can I find here?
Six categories plus Events:
- Shop — retail, boutiques, outdoor gear, local crafts
- Lodging — hotels, B&Bs, vacation rentals, campgrounds
- Play — outdoor recreation, tours, entertainment, activities
- Holistic — wellness, acupuncture, integrative medicine
- Food — restaurants, breweries, cafés, food trucks

- Events — festivals, markets, and community happenings
Something on a listing is wrong. How do I fix it?
Email hello@humboldt.fyi with the business name and what’s off. We check with the business directly before changing anything.
Where do the ratings and reviews come from?
Two sources, shown side by side. Community ratings come from people who submit reviews here. Google ratings appear alongside them, unchanged. We never merge the two into a single score.

How do I claim my business?
Three steps:
- Find your business on the Claim Your Business page
- Verify you own it — by phone, email, or postcard
- Pick a plan and finish setup
Verification usually takes less than 24 hours.
What’s the difference between “claimed” and “verified”?
Claimed means you’ve proven the business is yours. You can update your own details, and nobody else can edit them.
Verified means you’re on a paid plan and your listing has been reviewed and structured by our team. Verified listings carry the green checkmark and rank above unverified ones in our directory.

What do I actually get?
Every plan includes a verified listing you control, a profile structured so your information reads accurately wherever people look you up — search engines and AI assistants included — and analytics on how often your listing gets viewed. Higher plans add more FAQs, more photos, and more detail in your reporting.
Can I edit my own information?
Yes. Once your listing is claimed, you can update hours, contact details, photos, and your description any time from your dashboard. Changes go live right away.
What is a Branch Challenge Invite Token?
A Branch Challenge Invite Token is a wooden coin passed hand to hand between local businesses. If someone gave you one, the code on it unlocks founding-member pricing when you check in with it.
